Barracuda
And if I could do it all again
It ended with the Tudors
In 1603 (or that’s what they told me)
I used to be rooted
In something unique
But life’s got a funny way
Of knocking you off of your feet
If I could then I would
I’d get it right first time around
If ought still implies could
Then darling be gentle when putting me down
And Sgt. Mathilda
She’s stomping my cigarettes out
She’s picking me up
And throwing me out
The aforementioned
Liquid affairs – sequestered and bare
In Oslo, Norway
We smoked on the beach
I gave you a piece

Sitting on the common fence
Between time and common sense
An ongoing discussion
On the right course of action
Between what’s mine and what was merely lent
If I were you I’d put to page
Words that might elucidate
This marbled mess of sadness
And giddy eyed excitement
But I’m not
So all I do
Is wait
Back to back and face to face
They look the same from far away
And on close inspection
There are correlations
But one goes on
And one turns away

Watcombe Bay

So when you come to call me home
I will not whine
I will not moan
The commorant's been calling out your name
And if you want to show me standing stones
The moorland you have made your home
I'll watch you from the garden all the same
But in my heart there's a knowing
When things are overflowing
When things are going wrong I can call you on the phone
And we enter the arena
Standing together
We enter the arena but we're crucified
Alone
But here at Watcombe Bay
Surrounded by the orange clay
I feel lucky just to be alone with you
So potter spin your potter's wheel
Mixture maker master meal
I love you
I love you
I love you

Soft as a whisper
Comes the rain
An angel’s wing that flings between the borders of my pain
The times I could have kissed her
Ran my fingers through his hair
But I can feel the static someone’s charging up the air
The faint twitch in your finger
There’s something in my eye
The moment before impact and I think I change my mind
But the kettle drum is rolling
The fuse has just been lit
The moment before impact’s when you see what you will hit
The first drop hits the pavement
And my heart is in my hands
I turn and kiss the spot I think the next raindrop will land
But its coming down in buckets
And I think I lose my mind
Now a little piece of everything is written on my eyelids

I can't keep giving away
Bits of my brain
For free
I can't keep missing the train
Stuck in the lane
I'm free
Eight long weeks stuck on the vine
Finding the time
To think
Bronwyn's sunset on my mind
The Northern Line
I think
On a line that's curving towards
Something I thought
Was good
In my mind wrapped up in thoughts
They used to be yours
For good

Waterlow Park

They’re cutting the love-locks off Leeds Centenary Bridge
They’re Knocking the arms of the statues at Waterlow Park
The hollow-way in which we used to wander has silted up
And this evening’s long undying has left me stuck beneath your heart
Those aren’t cracks on the war memorial wall
It’s just for decoration, it’s aesthetic.
Nothing more.
But lately I’ve began to notice the ivy that’s creeping up my arms
And as I turn to run I’m sticking to floor
“The moon’d dissolve my eyelids
And time’d turned to treacle”
But id the river breaches
We’ll be stuck up here ‘till people pass by
But what if we stayed up here tonight

Algae

"The whole would be that much larger
But for the want of paper"
You said "Goodnight"
But I wanted "See you later"
See you later, my love
And if the river's breaching
The fields are leaching fertiliser
Back into the sea
An the algal blooms they
fill the room they
stain the tubes
and pull apart
And I saw a heron sitting
on the Lutchins building
I think of you now
Richard Meer
I hear you calling
I hear you calling
And it happened again
It happened again
It happened again

Darling must we change
Baby can't we stay
The carriage of King Solomon
Which he himself the holy man did make
The wood it came from Lebanon
The trees grew slowly leaching from the lake
Darling must we change
Baby can't we stay
The posts were made of silver
The interior so lovingly engraved
By daughters of Jerusalem
The base of gold in which the silver laid
And as I lay sleeping my heart was awake
Your head on my shoulder
The moon in your face
